OH HAI: On LOLCat Speek

Oh hai! Anyone up for Orlando vacations? No? Well, it doesn’t really matter for this post (I’d love to go on vacation to Orlando too, but Sydney is the priority)…and I’m getting sidetracked.

Let me share to you one of my current favorite websites, one that never fails to make me laugh: icanhascheezburger.com. If you haven’t been to this website before, then you better get there fast to see what I mean. No wait, let me just give you an example so you’ll see why I like this website:

Plz to stop poking (from ICHC)

I’m a sucker for cat (and other cute animal) photos. One of the favorite emails I receive everyday is the Cute Overload email, where I can ogle at all the cuteness they send everyday. :) But seeing the captioned pictures in I Can Has Cheezburger (ICHC) just tickles my funny bone that sometimes my teammates give me weird looks for my sudden giggles when I’m browsing the site. I mean, who can resist this?

Holiday Weekend

The holiday weekend is almost ending, and let me just say: this is probably the weekend I really went out a lot. Interesting. I’m really more of a homebody even if I’m trying hard to be a social butterfly. But I figured that it’s payday weekend and after this, I’d be saving up for the new laptop which I plan to buy at the end of the year (or sooner, God-willing), I’d better make the most out of this weekend.

The first order of the weekend started Thursday night, where my teammates and I trooped over to Marikina to eat dinner at this Dampa-like place at Riverbanks. None of us took pictures of the amount of food we all took in, but trust me, we were stuffed. The dinner consisted of sisig, liempo, stuffed grilled tilapia, stuffed squid, sinigang na maya maya, ensaladang mangga, talong and bagoong, baked clams with cheese, sizzling tuna and lots of rice. Yes siree, I broke whatever diet I’m trying to follow that night. :P But that doesn’t really matter, because the food was so good. And as a treat to our team leader who has been treating us countless times whenever we all eat out at Eastwood (we’re spoiled that way), we all chipped in so he won’t have to pay for his food. After all that stuffing, we headed to Figaro to hang out for a while over cold drinks and hot chocolate and spent the next hour laughing and talking about our first three months together. :) As Grace told me the next day, we spent more than three hours eating and laughing. Good times. Thank You Lord for these people. :)

When I look at the Stars: A Switchfoot Night

The Switchjeep

Well that’s another long nonpost. I’m sorry about that. I have a perfectly good excuse, really, besides having nothing much to write (really!), I also got the chance to meet up with a bunch of amazing guys last weekend, which is why I am having a bit of a hard time writing it down because everything still feels so surreal.

Okay, let’s try this again. :)

I guess everyone who’s been to my blog knows that I am part of the Switchfoot in Manila Street Team (with that probably driving a lot of hits to my site, thus making my domain eat up a lot of bandwidth. But it’s all good. ;)

Sunday afternoon found me, Happy, Tuesday and Reeya at Shangrila Mall to plan our itinerary for the day and for the next day. It was only the three of us then because Tue and Happy volunteered their cars for the event, and I tagged along to volunteer my services in case they need help. Then we went around Manila (literally :p) and ended up at the hotel at night with Grace, Erik and Gharri to wait for midnight where we would all troop over to the airport to pick the band up.

La la la Live Out Loud

At the office with Vanessa and RachelleLast Friday was my last day at work. I was permitted to be a bit relaxed, provided I finish all the documents for turnover and request for transfer early. Around 3:00pm I was done, so all I did was talk with my officemates and do some picture taking. I was really surprised at all the good luck messages I got and the cake I received from one of the vendors. :) And luckily, I also got paid yesterday which means I won’t be poor for the next two weeks until I get paid for my new job. :) Praise God.

I still can’t believe I’m done with my first job. Wow. It’s been an amazing journey, and even if I felt like wanting to quit a lot of times already, every moment is irreplaceable. Great Adventure indeed.

And speaking of Great Adventure, Tuesday, Happy and I went to meet the person who composed and sang the song, Steven Curtis Chapman. Yesterday was his second night of concert sponsored by Cathedral of Praise. Of course we wouldn’t miss this one, so we got there early. Funny though, because I think God played a joke on us because Happy and I almost didn’t get back in when we took a CR break at around 5:30pm. I will be eternally grateful to this guy usher who Tuesday talked to so we could get back in again. We didn’t get his name, but I will really pray for him.

The show was great! I still wish he sang Moment Made for Worshipping but it’s okay because he sang Great Adventure anyway (in a really rocking version!), plus other favorites like Dive, Speechless, For the Sake of the Call. :) Great great night.

With Chris ChesbroAnd then we got to hang out with the band afterwards. See, last year, Tuesday was one of their tour guides when they visited here (I was a part of the team too, but I was selling tickets so I didn’t get to go around with them). So this year, Tuesday introduced us to Chris (the band’s bassist), who picked us up and brought us upstairs (which got him into trouble…oops!) so we ended up hanging out in the green room. A little while later, Steven’s sons, Caleb and Will, and their sound engineer, Russ, joined us and we took tons and tons of pictures and talked. I have to say, Chris is the most popular one that night, with all his photo ops and whatnot. :P It was fun hanging out with them, getting to see their personalities aside from their stage presence.

Unfortunately, Steven was busy so we didn’t get to talk to him that much. We only saw him right before they left, which gave us the photo op:

They had to leave because they were up to watch Transformers (Awesome movie, btw). Tuesday dropped us off at Taft, we ate late dinner and then headed to Robinson’s Pioneer to wait for my brother to pick us up.

Today, I am watching CSI: Miami on AXN, and I should get ready to go out because I’m up for a haircut/pedicure and picture taking for my 1×1’s for my new job tomorrow. I better get going if I want to get back home by 6:30 for the mass.

Awesome weekend, and I’m praying for an awesome week at my new work. :) Have a blessed Sunday everyone. :)

Only in the Philippines!

This is interesting! Riz tagged me to do this meme, who tagged others who tagged others and now I don’t know who I will tag. :) Now I’m not sure who to tag since everyone else seems to be tagged.

Anyway, Juned found this weird, funny and a bit morbid looking postcard and scanned it:

Only in the Philippines!

If you’re not familiar with this, this postcard is an execution scene in the old days, back in the Spanish era. Now look at the people at the back, who seem to be posing for the picture! Haha, yes, it may be morbid, but it’s actually a very typical Filipin trait — finding the funny side in everything, good AND bad. :) It’s the way we can laugh at how bad corruption is, or make jokes at something as serious as the elections. It’s not that we don’t take things seriously; we just know how to look at the brighter side of things.

Here’s the backside of the postcard, edited by yours truly:

Bawat Pilipino Bayani!

Here are the instructions for this meme:

1. Download the scanned front and back of this postcard and resize to fit your blog. (Riz, panakaw ng bandwidth. :P)
2. Enter your independence day message on the back and post both images on your blog.
3. Title of post should be Only in the Philippines!
4. Tag five fellow countrymen

Tags go to: (Haha, this is hard! Almost everyone I know is already tagged!)
- Jeric, Lai, Sasha (Says), Gean and Jeff.

Mabuhay ka, Pinoy! :)
