Insurance

My dad has been in the insurance business for as long as I can remember and I know that our family has availed of a lot of different insurance packages from different companies for different purposes. Just recently, my mom urged me to get a pension plan, which is kind of like a retirement insurance, which I will be able to use in the next 10 years or so after paying it off. They also urged me to get this savings plan for myself, which I have to refuse for now because I want to become more financially stable first before I take on any long term paying things.

I don’t really understand all of those insurance stuff just yet unlike my parents and my brother, but I do know that there are different kinds of insurances. I know there’s home insurance, where the very structure of the home is insured and if anything happens (like a fire, or flood or some other calamity), the insurance company will be able to help out the people affected by the calamity financially. There’s also car insurance, which works the same as home insurance, only of course it’s for cars. I know there’s also life/accident insurance, which provides financial assistance in case of accidents and there’s even some kind of gadget insurance that my dad got for some of our things at home. And yes, how could I forget, a travel insurance which provides assistance for a person in case anything bad happens to you during travel. The participants of the upcoming World Youth Day 2008 will have this as part of the registration package once they are registered (which reminds me, I should do this soon!).

Like I said, I still don’t understand much of it, but pretty soon I will, me thinks. Because I can’t deny the fact that I’m growing up and I’m gonna need to understand these things so I will be able to prepare. :)
