The hype won’t get you through

I was surfing around innocently, trying not to look for Switchfoot stuff because of the detox mode, but I happened to chance upon this:

Tickets Now Available for Switchfoot and Anberlin Concert at SWOSU

Tickets are now on sale for an outdoor concert featuring bands Switchfoot and Anberlin as part of the Panorama series at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.

The concert is set for October 4 at 7:30 p.m. at Milam Stadium on the SWOSU campus in Weatherford.

Full article here.

AHHHHHHH! Can someone sponsor me and Happy on an all-expense paid trip to Oklahoma on October? Please? Come on! It’s Switchfoot AND Anberlin! They’re like two of my favorite bands EVER! Get me there, pleaaaase?

*stops begging* Okay, okay, I shall stop this. But seriously. If I can watch a show where Switchfoot will play with ((I have to emphasize with because the two bands aren’t really performing together, but in the same show and venue)) Anberlin, I will definitely be a happy little girl. Throw in Mae and I will be a crazy happy little girl. :)

Dream on, Tina! Yes, I will dream on, because God won’t put a dream in my heart that He has no intention of making come true (Did I say this right?)…right Lord? *bats eyelashes*

You think travelpro will be able to help me to get there?

Okay, let it go. :P

That’s My Answer! # 4

This is another semi-brainless post (because I’m feeling kind of sick, boo), much thanks to That’s My Answer. This is an answer to their first question for today:

How fidgety are you?

It depends on the situation. When I’m being interviewed or something, I can be fidgety. It would be only after the entire thing when I’d realize how much my hand moved or how my fingers played with the envelope or something that I’m carrying (like for instance, I was at this job interview, and I kept on opening and closing my plastic envelope. I left the office with my envelope’s lip broken :p). And speaking of interviews, I also realized that I don’t maintain straight eye contact. I look at the person’s eyes, then focus on another spot and talk and then look back at the person. Is that weird?

Other instances where I can be fidgety is when I’m really nervous (not when I’m talking to my crush or anyone I’m particularly fond of — I react differently there :p), like when I am supposed to do something but didn’t do it, or when the home lighting on the particular place where I am is too hot or too bright or too annoying. Also when I’m sleepy or excited or something, I tend to fidget a lot.

Hm. So am I a fidgety person? I hope not.

43 Days

I was finally wading through my backlog of entries in my RSS reader when I landed on this writing blog and saw that there are only 44 days left until National Novel Writing Month (Well, it’s 43 for us here in the Pacific). Forty four! Wow, wasn’t it just a little while when I was slaving panicking joyfully writing over Rain and her story (which I haven’t finished until now)?

But true, it is the middle of September and NaNoWriMo is just around the corner! My dad bought me a copy of No Plot? No Problem! by Chris Baty, and it’s been an interesting read so far, but I have to admit: I have no idea what I will be writing this year! O_o Well I have some scattered ideas here and there, but that’s it. For example:

  1. There’s that science fiction/fantasy novel I’ve been planning to write for so long, based on this series I tried to write before called The Chosen Ones. But I’m not really good in fantasy/sci fi stuff and I can’t make them original. Then again, the story is based on a handful of other stories, so what do you expect?
  2. The spy novel I wanted to write because of all the Totally Spies episode I keep on watching when I was still unemployed. I initially envisioned a group of college girls who are actually spies and help out the PNP (of course it’s got to be local) in fighting crime but never show their faces to the police/people (hello, Sailormoon?!) and the police always end up messing up the crimes so they never really catch anyone. But it’s so girl-power-y and Sailormoon-y that I cringe at the thought.
  3. There’s part 2 of the Fall Like Rain thing, where I plan to focus on one of her friends, Faith (and will be entitled Keep the Faith). In this installment, Faith will be having marriage woes, Rain would be going back home and I plan to take the girls to caribbean cruises to spice things up. Oooh, so chicklit!
  4. Finally, there’s the Ibong Adarna remix I was planning. This was inspired by one of the NaNo novels I read last year, where the writer made a mix of Greek and Roman mythology in the characters. Anyway, this is a modern novel based on Ibong Adarna, where there would be no magic only lots of stars, glitz and glamour in finding Ada, the hottest young singer in the metro and the long lost foster daughter of Don Ferdinand. Figure it out. ;)
    .

So far that’s all the ideas I have. I’m personally leaning towards the last two, mostly because they’re familiar already, plus I have been sort of planning to write # 4 for Script Frenzy, only I opted out of the event. And November is going to be busy, with the out of the country trip at the first few days plus the big event near the end of the month (you’ll hear about it here soon!), so I should go for the easier one to write.

But then…comfort zone again! Maybe I should take up some challenges to make my writing interesting, don’t you think?

Or, I could always write about Faith, Rain and her friends joining the search for Ada, Don Ferdinand’s long lost daughter and hottest young singer who turns out to be a spy helping the police to get rid of crime and eventually fighting off magical creatures with people who call themselves The Chosen Ones. ;)

Spirit, fall fresh on me

I found all that I want, all that I longed for in You
I found all that I want, all that I longed for in You
Wasted time, is when I’m far from Your truth
I’ve found all that I want, all that I long for in You.
- Spirit, Switchfoot

Hi Lord. It’s me, Tina.

It’s been a long time since I wrote to You, and the last time I actually took the time to write on my journal was…too long ago. I remember the days where the first thing I do when I open my eyes was grab my Bible and read Your word. How long has it been? I can’t remember. Now that’s bad. I’m sorry.

Anyway, today is the day I promised myself that I would finally let go of the entire Switchfoot experience. I know no one’s stopping me from revelling in the entire thing, and I could just reminisce and talk about the entire thing all day but I want to. That doesn’t mean I’m not thankful for it — You know I am. I really, really am, and I could never ever thank You enough for blessing me with this experience: to meet a really amazing and humble group of guys who inspire me and live Your word through their music. It’s okay if I have no “proper” picture with the other band members; the experience itself is enough. I know You know that’s one of my dreams, and I thank You for bringing it to reality.

But really, I have to stop gushing about it already. Because I feel like if I keep on doing it, I’m going to lose focus on the One that matters…and it’s You. I mean, their songs wouldn’t mean much if I lose focus on the One they’re singing to, right?

Seasonal Shopaholic Strikes

This is an attempt not to write about them. :P

This is a follow up post of what I mentioned before, and how I’m holding up with the status of the things I need to buy. Here we go (photos to follow):

  1. I got myself two new work shoes. One black pointed flats from Auztralian and one white heeled one from Mario D’boro. I love the white one, and I plan to get the exact same style, only it’s in hot pink. :P Yes, I love pink. ;) I spent about Php1000 on it. :D
  2. My mom got me a new bag which is exactly what I need for work. Yay, no expenses here since it’s a pasalubong. Hahaha! But I love it! Just what I need for work. :D
  3. I finally got myself new sneakers…after almost a year of not buying one. This is the first pair of sneaks I will be paying with my own money (I love you, credit card!). It’s the much wanted Chucks - pink and white with pink hearts embroidered on the heel. :P
  4. Next week is jeans week at work, and I realized that the last pair of jeans I bought was back when I just graduated. How about that. Anyway, I realized that I am running out of jeans again, so today, I got two. :D Bench loves me, I got 2 pairs for Php 1000. Penshoppe jeans are too small now. :( Wait, I have more jeans at home, but they’re thin jeans, which means if I want to wear them again, I’m gonna have to lose these flabs first. *pouts*
    .

Well that’s not bad. :) I’ve yet to buy a crystal case for Captain Tal, a dSLR and a new laptop. The latter ones are big and expensive, I know, but that’s why I save up for things, like the way some people save in buying real estate. That would have to wait until the end of the year, me thinks. ;)

If this post didn’t make sense half the time, I am sorry. I’ve been multitasking for the past three hours. :P Have a great week ahead!
